Following the success of the first season and the recently released Jujutsu Kaisen movie, many fans are patiently waiting for the second season of the anime series. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has already been confirmed to be released in 2023, but the details for the coverage of the anime are yet to be revealed. To hype up the anime fandom, the staff of the second season has revealed that the upcoming anime will include the iconic Shibuya Incident Arc.
With this confirmation, the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will cover a total of two story arcs from the manga series. This is a valid reason why the second season of the anime will be two cours.
As of the moment, the anime adaptation has already covered several arcs of the Jujutsu Kaisen series. Given that the next season will feature the Shibuya Incident Arc, anime fans should also be getting Gojo’s Past Arc, which will be followed by the Shibuya Incident Arc.

In the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series, the Shibuya Incident Arc starts in Chapter 79, which is also the end of Gojo’s Past Arc. If you’re planning to read the manga ahead of the release of the anime, we recommend that you start reading from Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 63, which concludes the Death Painting Arc and the episode finale of the first season.
As mentioned earlier, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will have two parts. Each cour usually has 12–13 episodes, which only means that the second season will have a total of 23–24 episodes. Take note that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, released in 2020–2021, also has 24 episodes.
