Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 52 Recap

Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 52 was officially released on December 9, 2021. The chapter covers the continuation of the fight between the Defense Force and Kaiju No. 9.

Just right after Gen Narumi and Kafka Hibino arrive at the battlefield, they immediately see Isao Shinomiya standing on top of Kaiju No. 9’s body. Kafka was thankful that the Director General was fine after the intense battle against the Kaiju.

However, Kafka noticed something out of the ordinary to the Director General and immediately informed Gen Narumi that it was not Isao. The Director General suddenly stretched his arms and attacked Gen. Fortunately, the captain was able to dodge the attack.

Right after attacking Gen Narumu, the Director General transformed into Kaiju No. 9. When Gen asked the monster about the Director General, Kaiju No. 9 said that he killed and fused with him.

After hearing Kaiju No. 9’s claim, Kikoru Shinomiya suddenly appeared and attacked the monster from above. Kikoru seemed to hit the monster, but it was able to survive. After the attack, Kaiju No. 9 told her that he knew that she was Isao’s daughter.

The fight continues against Kaiju No. 9 with Gen Narumi launching another attack. With the captain’s eye, he was determined to defeat the monster. It was a close match between the soldiers and the monster when Kaiju No. 9 suddenly told them that he was retreating.

Gen Narumi finds it unbelievable as it’s their chance to take down the monster. Having known that the monster took down the general, Gen vows to not let Kaiju No. 9 run away. At the same time, Gen Narumi launched another attack from above, and at the same time, Kafka also attacked the monster.

Despite using their combined powerful attacks, Kaiju No. 9 was able to stop them by only using its hands.

Will Kafka and Gen be able to defeat Kaiju No. 9? Or are we going to see the monster escape from the defense force? Let’s find out in the next issue of the Kaiju No. 8 manga.

More About Kaiju No. 8

For many years, grotesque, Godzilla-like monsters known as “kaijuu” have been sighted throughout Japan. To combat these beasts, an elite military unit known as the Defense Corps puts their lives on the line every day to protect civilians. When a creature is killed, “sweepers” from the Professional Kaijuu Cleaner Corporation are dispatched to dispose of its remains.

Kafka Hibino, 32, is dissatisfied with his job as a sweeper. He has always wanted to join the Defense Corps and kill kaijuus for a living. After a few failed attempts, he gave up on his dreams and resigned himself to mediocrity for the sake of a decent paycheck. Nonetheless, when an ambitious 18-year-old recruit named Leno Ichikawa joins his cleaning crew, Kafka is reminded of his desire to join the military once more.

Following a series of unfortunate events and an encounter with the junior sweeper, Kafka is attacked by a parasite-type kaijuu that forces its way into his mouth, transforming him into a humanoid monster. Kafka intends to use his newfound abilities to give his lifelong dream one last shot.
