One Piece Chapter 1042 Recap
The previous chapter titled “Winners Shouldn’t Need Rationalizations” features Charlotte Oven carrying Vinsmoke’s book and is about to enter the mirror world. Pudding was also spotted while pouting her lips.
The manga starts with X Drake piercing his sword through the body of a member of the CP0. It turns out that he overheard the CP0’s conversation to eliminate Luffy. Despite X Drake’s attack, the CP0 member was still able to survive and also attacked X Drake.
The fight between Kaido and Luffy resumes in the next panel. Luffy has been continuously attacking Kaido while in his Snakeman form. Kaido acknowledges Luffy’s attack as he admits that he was being hurt. This situation leads to Kaido using his Flirty Drunk Phase and later transformed into his dragon form with his Thieving Drunk Phase mode activated. Being in his dragon form, Kaid attacked and bit Luffy. Kaido flies into the air, and upon reaching a certain height, Kaido opens his mouth and unleashes his Blast Breath attack. His attack was so strong that it managed to pierce through the island. Luffy, on the other hand, was able to save himself by transforming into his Boundman form and flies back to Kaido.
Luffy knew that he was already reaching his limit and he couldn’t let his guard down or he would be defeated. Kaido transformed into his Homicidal Drunk Phase mode and rushed towards each other to unleash their final blow. As the two got close, CP0 suddenly appeared behind Luffy’s back. Luffy got distracted by the unexpected appearance of the CP0, resulting in Kaido’s attack hitting him badly.
The manga ends with Kaido’s heartbreaking reaction and shock while remembering his previous fight against Oden. Luffy is bleeding and badly injured, while the CP0 is also waiting for his chance to complete his mission.
