One Piece Chapter 1046 will surely continue the fight between Luffy and Kaido. Eiichiro Oda has been consistently giving fans phenomenal moments in every chapter. Following Luffy’s devil fruit awakening, the manga author continues the head-to-head match between the two captains. And right now, they are still in the midst of an intense fight where no one knows who will be the winner.
Despite being defeated by Kaido multiple times, Luffy always stands up to challenge Yonko again. Looking back, Luffy had been thrown into prison by Kaido. While some of the characters find this event outrageous, Luffy turns his defeat into a positive moment as he learns how to improve his Haki. Now that Luffy has awakened his Gomu Gomu no Mi, or what we can now call Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika, Yonko Kaido is facing a more powerful enemy.
So, will Luffy be able to defeat the strongest creature in the series? Let’s find out in Chapter 1046 of the One Piece manga series.
One Piece Chapter 1045 Recap
The previous manga chapter, titled “Next Level,” starts with Luffy and Kaido on the top of the Skull Dome. Luffy’s been consistently bouncing as he’s still on his Gear 5th. Kaido noted that Luffy’s devil fruit is unusual as it has properties of both a Paramecia and a Zoan-type devil fruit. It seems that Kaido still doesn’t have an idea about the truth behind the Gomu Gomu no Mi.
While still in his dragon form, Kaido attacked Luffy. Kaido swallowed Luffy, but instead of dying, Luffy stretched inside the dragon’s stomach. Momonosuke and Yamato see Kaido with a huge stomach and assume that it was Kaido’s new form.
Kaido was confused about what was happening to his body, as his body was not meant to be rubbery. While inside the dragon’s body, Luffy sees a pair of lights. It turns out that it was Kaido’s eyes, and Luffy used them as an escape route.
Just right after getting out of Kaido’s body, Luffy flew into the clouds. Kaido heard Luffy shouting a devil fruit technique, and suddenly a giant version of Luffy appeared. Luffy is about to attack, but Kaido gets him first. While Luffy was still in his giant form, he grabbed Kaido’s head and tail and played with them like a jump rope.
The fight against Kaido doesn’t end there, as the Yonko counters Luffy. Luffy’s head was blown inside the Skull Dome, and everyone was surprised to see a cartoonish-like face of Luffy.
The Straw Hat’s captain is almost at his limit, but once again, his body regains the elasticity of rubber. Luffy attacked Kaido and it went through, punching Kaido in the face. The cliffhanger of Chapter 1045 sees Luffy’s excitement while telling Kaido that he’s enjoying their fight.
